Portraits of famous people neatly done by mosaic artist Jason Mecier. Created using garbage and everyday items. Love the way he uses actual depth in portraits.

Meredith Dittman. Detailed work all in a frame box. Dig the characters with symmetrical background elements. Sweet but dark at the same time.

Their costume fascinates me all the time and to me, they are space robots from a distant solar system here to inspire mankind in a form of art where we worship them on a spaceship shape of a pyramid. It’s a cult and it represents future technology where machines have emotions. Close encounters with the third kind indeed. Check out the interview here. Interesting read on DP’s perspective. Oh yea, dope magazine too.

Coffee Paint

So here is the story, someone spilled coffee on the wall at my office recently and believe it or not, the stain doesn’t come off. Then i was casually assign by my boss (most likely because i sat the nearest to the wall) to do a cover up of the spillage. The brief was to draw a life-size figure puking using only coffee as paint.

So here it is, with the help of my colleagues i did a life-size self portrait stencil and painted it with a brush and a cup of hot coffee. I dramatize the effect of puking by extending the neck connecting to the other side of the pillar. Turns out pretty decent and what did i learn? If you secretly despise a person, have a coffee at the person’s house and purposely spill coffee on their wall.

The man who pioneered the art of impossible objects in the 1930s, what was later renamed the Penrise objects, which appear solid on paper, but cannot be built. It’s obvious where Delta got his inspiration from and then got to me. Playing with 3D shapes to mess with your mind, i like that. More of his work here.

Banksy vs Bristol Museum

Im excited by just hearing the news that Banksy is doing another exhibition from earlier this year. And this is the much anticipated secret location turn out to be right back at the artist’s hometown museum. Exhibiting more than 100 pieces of his own art into the museum’s existing collection. Whole lot of new paintings, sculptures and some of his recent and new super realistic animatronics.

I always love the way he uses ironic bits in life to create artwork that get people smiling all the time. His messages are spot on and makes us stop and wonder and realize this is really happening and should be taken seriously. More of his artwork at the source link.

The BBC reported: “Graffiti artist Banksy has unveiled his most ambitious British project to date, a made over museum in his home town of Bristol. Staged in the council-owned City Museum and Art Gallery, Banksy v Bristol Museum was such a closely guarded secret even senior councillors were unaware of the plans, while visitors and staff were told that filming had been taking place. The exhibition features animatronics, installations and a sensory display.”

Erik Parker: Crisis Creation

Came across the works of Erik Parker currently on show, amazingly psychedelically phreshh. The colors and details are meticulous and it’s either the artist or the artist’s subject is trippin’ out for real on a higher state of visual stimulation overdose. “Viewing them is like seeing into a mirror through the eyes of a furiously hallucinating drug fiend.” Quote Ken Johnson from NY Times. True that. Im lovin’ it.
