MCMLXXXI

About

MCMLXXXI stands for the year 1981 in which Hoong, an idea who loves anything that consist of Art, Design, Music and all things which are interesting in terms of beauty, descended into this world. A Graphic Designer by Day and a Club Dj by night, it came to no surprise that he allowed his passion to be driven to the extent of pursuing his dreams.

He has been contributing numerous designs for club flyers in the past 3 years (still does as a freelancer) and now has up the notch a little by getting involved full time for a renowned advertising company. By his first year he has already won a Silver in Kancil Awards in Film category.

Hoong didn’t allow himself to be fixated in only advertising and club flyers arts. With other fellow mates who share his passion and love for the graphic world, they formed Aerosol Addicts. They are not your typical graffiti artists who are on the top 10 wanted list of our local authorities. No, instead, several of their commission works for Nike, Salem, Hip-Hop festivals and more have been plastered on leading magazines and shows which generated much interest from the local media.

Music, of course, it’s another sense of expression which he never missed out in life. AKA Didjital, 1/3 of the group called Bass Agents which has already established their mark locally and abroad in the dance music scene for many years. Raging from electro to tech-trance to hard dance, the Bass Agents has since secured a large variety of followers in terms of genre preferences. Bagging numerous awards such as Martell’s Rising Personalities 2007, KLue Magazine 20 under 40, JUICE Magazine 2005 Best New Local Dj to name a few, the Agents were always on the demands list of most dance events.

Juggling between both lives with hectic schedules all year long, Didjital still found time to tour with the Bass Agents around Malaysia locally and also internationally with countries like Australia, Singapore, China and more. If that’s not enough, he too produces his own tracks and has already made plans for an upcoming album which he would want released in 2009, plus he designs their own clothing line that bares the name BAXX.

2005 was indeed a rewarding year as this young star, accompanied by 2 other renowned Djs, merged together to form Altered Image. A then, first of it’s kind group that pushed djing to a whole new level as it combines music and visual effects together. In short, motion graphics are crafted and synched all together with music to create a whole new vibe in the dance scene. Needless to say they were crowned champion of the Heineken Thirst 2005 Malaysia Dj Competition.

Although the dance scene were seen commercialized locally in raves parties, however, something was amiss; a constant hard dance night for fellow rave followers to find refuge in. With that, Hardsequence was created to manage and further spread the influences of harder genres by featuring only the best local Hard Dance Djs as well as Internationals. By pushing the boundaries on how hard dance were perceived by many (negative), the brand has proven to be a top-notch night in which won them not 1 but 2 JUICE Reader Choice Awards; “Best New Local Night” and “Most Up For It Crowd” in a short time span of 12 months.

Recently joining Zouk KL as their resident Dj for his own night at BarSonic called OMFG!, He has once again proved to be nothing short of creative as this night alone caters for the advertising and creative industry which will feature upcoming artists to showcase their portfolio and of course not forgetting to party hard and go wild.

Blogging was never a thing for Didjital as he is one who speaks louder with art than with words. Nevertheless he had to keep up with the times of creating awareness through the Net. MCMLXXXI’s purpose is to showcase his on going personal portfolio/work in design and music production. Also, the site is dedicated to share famous inspiring work that he finds fit for his taste and style with the world. Hence the term MilkCrate that represents daily freshness of ideas at your doorstep.
